Hepatitis B virus infections are still a major nealth problem in Turkey. In this study, we aimed to determine and to protect the risk groups for hepatitis B infections in Şanlıurfa region. Şanlıurfa orphanage and hospital personnel and check-up clinics were included in the study. 275 samples were screened for HBsAg by microELISA technique (Organon tech-time apparatus and. ) While 31 subjects (11.27%) were found positive for HBsAg, Anti- HBs positivity was found in 58 subjects (21.09%). 7(10.60%) in orhanage, 8(14.81%) in hospital personnel, and 31(11,27%) in check-up clinics were found positive for HBsAg. High HBsAg positivity especially in children population, makes the vaccination of children necessary during infancy. On the other hand, it is obviously important to educate hospital personnel to decline the high rate of HBsAg positivity.
