The evaluation of HBV, HCV, HIV and syphilis screening test results in voluntary and nonvoluntary blood donors

In this study HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HIV-1-2 and non-treponemal syphilis antibody tests were evaluated in voluntary and nonvoluntary blood donors. In total of 4107 donors 15.7% was voluntary and 84.2% was nonvoluntary. Among all of the donors while 1.26% were HBsAg and 0.24% were anti-HCV pozitive, anti-HIV-1-2 and RPR positivity were not determinet. In conclusion further studys will be useful to increase the number of voluntary donors and cautious and meticulous work was found to be important in the screening tests in order to decrease the risk of infection to the lowest possible level.
