Viral hepatitis is one of the most frequent problems encountered in medical personnel. This study comprised of 207 dental students, with an average age of 20 years, who were tested for HBsAg, anti-HCV and anti-HBs using the ELISA method. Those without antibodies (n=95 cases), were administered three doses of recombinant hepatitis B vaccine on 0, 1 st and 6 th months. They were then tested for anti HBs one month after. At the end of the study, it was observed that the prevalance of HBsAg, anti-HCV and anti- HBs were 0.9 % (n=2 person) and 54 % (n=112 person) respectively. Those following the three doses of vaccine and having a protective level of antibodies (>10 mIU/ml) were 97.8 % (n=93 person). Despite the vaccines, two patients had an unprotective level of antibodies and were revaccinized, eventually obtaining a 100 % protective level of antibodies.
