129 clinical isolates of staphylococci obtained from four different ICU centers (two cardiac surgical ICU and two general surgical ICU) has been investigated for susceptibility to levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin and pefloxacin by disc diffusion method.
66 (51%) of 129 isolates were susceptible to levofloxacin, 52 (40%) to ofloxacin, 42 (32.5%) to ciprofloxacin, 39 (30%) to norfloxacin, 38 (24%) to pefloxacin. Clinical isolates of staphylococci obtained from cardiac and general surgical ICU were found to be highly resistant to quinolones. |
