Nowadays staphylococcal infections has increasingly emerged in hospitals and community. Fusidic acid is used in the treatment of staphylococcal infections including methicillin resistant ısolates, alone or in combination with other antibacterial agents. In this study, antibacterial antagonism between fusidic acid with ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin in staphylococci strains isolated from various clinical samples was investigated by agar disk diffusion method. It was detected that an antagonism between fusidic acid with ciprofloxacin in 33(28.6%), and fusidic acid with levofloxacin in 27(23.4%) of 115 S.aureus strains. Synergy was seen in the two strains between fusidic acid with ciprofloksasin and levofloxacin, in the one strain among fusidic acid with levofloxacin. The antagonism rate between fusidic acid with ciprofloksasin was 38.9% in MRSA strains, 17.8 in MSSA strains. There was a significant difference between these rates (p<0.05). The antagonism rate between fusidic acid with levofloxacin was 30.5% in MRSA strains, 16.0% in MSSA strains. There was no statistical significance between the two results (p>0.05). The reason for this interaction and its clinic implications are not known. It was concluded that it should be more careful in combined treatment of fusidic acid with ciprofloksasin and levofloxacin, even if it was found a susceptibility with these combinations.
