The most frequent complication in the transfusion of blood and blood products is the acquisition of infections. In this study, the screening test results of blood donors examined in German Hospital Blood Bank between January 2000-December 2006 were evaluated retrospectively and the results were compared with the results of the other blood banks stated in our country for each year.Routine screening tests were applied to 19499 blood donors between the study period. It was determined that 401 (2.06%) of the screening tests were positive for HbsAg; 54 (0.28%) for anti-HCV; 39 (0.2%) for RPR and two (0.01%) for anti- HIV. When the results were evaluated from one to another year, it was occurred that the incidence of positive HbsAg results were decreasing. The results of this study are in concordance with the results of other blood banks.
