In this study, the bacteria and their antibiotic susceptibilities from the urine samples of pediatric patients were evaluated
retrospectively. 436 urine cultures were included in the study. Escherichia coli (50.7%) was the most common isolated bacteria
while Enterococcus spp. (15.6%) was the most common isolated gram positive bacteria. Th e resistance rates for E.coli isolates
were determined as following; ampicillin (65.6%), amoxicillin/clavulanate (23.5%), ceft azidime (24.4%), ciprofl oxacin (9.9%).
All E.coli isolates were susceptible to imipenem. Th ese results might be helpful for the emprical treatment of urinary tract infections
in our hospital.
