Keywords: Helicobacter pylori, signal pathways, the pathogenesis of H pylori infection

Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) play a role in pathogenesis by virulance factors such as urease and outer membrane in colonization and adherence process, VacA and CagA which stimulate the variable signal mechanisms. The cagA gene encodes CagA protein that is injected into gastric cells by type IV secretion system (T4SS) and stimulates different signal mechanisms by tyrosine-dependent and -independent pathways. One of the important virulance factors VacA is immunogenic protein which stimulates vacuolization in epithelial cell in approximately 50% of H. pylori strains and injected into gastric cells by different mechanism from CagA and stimulates different signal mechanisms. H. pylori activates nuclear factor kappa B (NF-ĸB) by different mechanisms and the translocation of CagA and peptidoglycan by T4SS stimulates IL-8 and other proinflamatuar cytokins. In this review, we discussed that the importance of intracellular cell signal mechanisms in the pathogenesis of H. pylori infection.
