represent in different clinical pictures ranging between mild diarrhea to serious cases requiring hospitalization.
Furthermore, there are evidences of intussusception caused by rotavirus. About 611,000 deaths occur each year
due to severe rotavirus diarrhea worldwide, 85% being in the developing countries. The most prevalent rotavirus
types are G1-4, G9, P[8], P[4] and P[6] worldwide. G1P[8] (64.7%), G2P[4] (12%), G4P[8] (8.5%) and
G3P[8] (3.3%) serotypes are responsible for 88.5 % of rotavirus diarrhea in children. These types constitute
over 90% of the rotavirus infections in North America, Europe and Australia, 65% in South America and Asia
and 50% in Africa. Recently serotype G9 has started to increase in incidence and become an important infection
