Antibiotic resistance, an important threat to human and animal health, is becoming a greater
problem for the world every day. In particular, the increase in unconscious and uncontrolled use
of antibiotics has complicated the management of antimicrobial therapy. For this reason, the
interest in the antimicrobial effects of the aminosterol derivatives, a group of innovative
molecules has increased in recent years.
In this review, it is aimed to provide detailed information about squalamine, which has been the
subject of various studies due to its antibacterial, antiviral, antiparasitic and antifungal activities
and we believe that it may provide a new therapeutic approach for combating viral infectious
agents in veterinary field.
