Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the most important microorganisms in nosocomial infection and nasal carriage of MRSA is a major risk factor for the development of MRSA infection. In this study, the nasal carriage of MRSA in 483 hospital staff were investigated in Celal Bayar Ünivesity,Faculty of Medicine Hospital. Nasal carriage of MRSA was defined in 28 (5.8%) hospital staff with positive culture. Nasal carriage of MRSA rates according to the clinical and pre-clinical staff were found to be 6.8% and 1.2%, respectively. While MRSA carriage rates among doctors, nurses and the auxillary staff were 6.3% , 6.7% and 9.1%, respectively, in laboratory staff working in preclinic area, MRSA were not found (p<0.05).
