Fusarium genus mold fungi are plant pathogens and cause different infections in humans, depending on their
immune status and entry site. In addition to superficial infections such as keratitis and onychomycosis, locally
invasive or widespread infections have also been reported. Although more than a hundred types of fusarium
have been reported, the most commonly identified agent is Fusarium solani.
In this text; A case of cervical fusoriosis confirmed by histopathological and microbiological diagnosis in a patient
who presented with the complaint of unilateral swelling in the neck and was examined for lymphadenopathy
is presented. A sample was taken from the neck lymph node of the patient by tru-cut biopsy. Fusarium spp.
on Sabouraud dextrose agar medium. growth was detected and the mold fungus was identified as Fusarium
verticillioidis by MALDI-TOF MS (Vitek-MS, bioMérieux, France). Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma was found in
the background of the case. Concomitant diagnosis of the infection with the primary disease and initiation of
posaconazole treatment in the early period prevented the development of widespread fungal infection and
provided positive results from antifungal treatment. Therefore, when investigating the etiology of subcutaneous
lesions in patients, it is life-saving to consider also the infectious agents, especially the fungi.
