It should be used rapid and reliable diagnostic methods for early identification and treatment of tuberculous meningitis, except culture.

In our study, we detected antibodies against two antigens in cerebrospinal fluids of tuberculous meningitis patients and compared the results with culture. The antigens were antigen 60 which was obtained from Mycobacterium bovis BCG strain as commercial kit and antigen 6 which was send from Daniel for this study and occured in culture media secreted Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigen.

The results were same for both of the antigens. The sensivity was found 38%, the specifity 98%, positive predictive value 95%, negative predictive value 61%. For culture, the sensivity was 4%, the specifity 100%, positive predictive value 100%, negative predictive value 51%.

As conclusion, none of the methods were enough alone for diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis including culture. But it couldn't be rejected that the benefit of serological tests for the diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis evaluating with the clinical and radiological parameters.
