Serological investigation of Hellicobacter pylori infection during perinatal period

In this prospective study, a group of pregnant women with upper gastrointestinal symptoms and a group of pregnant women without upper gastrointestinal symptoms were sought for Hellicobacter .pylori infestions prevalence compreratively.

The study groups consist of pregnant women who admitted to Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of Kırıkkale University School of Medicine for rutin pregnancy control. Fifty pregnant women with upper gastro intestinal system symptoms constituted the first group were as twelve pregnant women without upper gastrointestinal system symptoms constituted the second group. Thirty five nonpregnant women were taken as a control group. Quantitative analysis was performed using open system ELİSA method to detect Hp IgG antibody in sera.

Hp IgG was positive is 27 (54 %) of the first group, is 13 (35 %) of the second group and 31 (65%) of the control group.

Seropositiveness of H.pylori IgG in asymptomatic pregnant women was found to be lower than the literature where as it was nearly the same for symptomatic pregnant women.
