Keywords: Candida albicans, non-albicans, virulence factors

In this study fosfolipase, esterase, haemolytic activity and slime production in 92 Candida albicans and 40 non-albicans strains which isolated from hospitalized patient was evaluated. Candida strains that isolated from oral cavity of healthy subjects was used as a control group. Yolk egg agar method was used for detection of fosfolipase activity, Tween 80 agar method was used for detection of esterase activity, 5% sheep blood SDA was used for detection of haemolytic activity and Congo red brain heart infusion agar method was used for detection of slime factor. Fosfolipase, esterase, β haemolytic activity and slime production was detected 91%, 84%, 87% and 17% in C.albicans strains and 73%, 35%, 70% and 33% in non-albicans strains respectively. Fosfolipase and β haemolytic activity were significantly higher in C.albicans and non-albicans strains from patient group than control group (p<0.05).
