This study was canducted in Mahmutbey Village Elementary School in the province of Istanbul in March 1995. The prevalance of parasite infection and it's effects on growing up was researched on 100 students chosen by random sampling method.
The rate of parasitism among children in the scope of this research is 26%, and the most frequent parasite is Giardia lambia with 76.8% occurence. The height and weight percentiles of the 12% of the parasite infected children are under the 10th percentile.
