In this study we aimed to learn the level of knowledge of the last year students in Erciyes University medical school about infection prevention and to determine their behaviours about handwashing and using gloves.

This study has been done on 105 persons who were chosen by 1/2 systematic sampling.

The average general knowledge score of about infection prevention was found to be 49,9±10,6. It has been found that the time of works as an intern did not affect the knowledge score about infection prevention. 45,2% of the interns thought that they did not know obey the rules of infection prevention. 68,6% of the interns thought that they may acquire infections from the patients when they are on duty. 5,7% of the interns did not know which solution must be used to clean the infected wounds. 32,4% of the interns knew that all of the materials which may be contaminated by blood and body fluids must be put to in 0,5% chlorine solution for 10 minutes before washing and brushing them in order to eliminate many organisms like hepatitis and AIDS viruses.

It has been seen that the interns who will have the hardest role on the conduction of medical services don't have enough rules of infection prevention of the infectious diseases and they don't obey the general rules of infection on their practice.
