In the study we enrolled 500 seropozitive for hepatitis Avirus (HAV), 16 seronegative for hepatitis Avirus (HAV) , 344 (66.7 %) male and 172 (33.3 %) female healty blood donors who had not recieved any blood transfusion product previously and 192 HBV, 54 HCV, 4HBV and HCV seropositive blood donors. TTV investigation was performed with PCR using primers supposed by Takahashi and colliques method. TTV-DNA was found positive in 132 (25.5 %) individuals of the 516 HBD and in 75 (30 %) individuals of the 250 CIBD. TTV-DNA positivity among HBD wasn't differing significantly according to sex (p>0.05). When comparing 19-28 age group with 29-39 age group and 40-55 age group there is a significant difference in the TTV-DNA positivity. There wasn't significant difference in the TTV-DNA positivity according to sex in the CIBD (p>0.05). There was significant difference only between the 19-28 age group and 29-39 age group (p<0.05). TTV-DNA positivity showed significant difference among HBV and HCV carriers (p<0.05). Our study sugest that ,TTV could be transmitted by the fecal-oral route, different from the parenteral and that new and wide spread continuous studies regarding the transmission pattern and pathology of the viral agent should be done.
