In our study, Chlamydia pneumoniae specific IgM, IgG and IgA antibodies were investigated in 50 patients who are clinically diagnosed as having acute myocardium infarction (AMI) by using Microimmunofluorescence (MIF) technique.

Test group of 50 patients was including 10 females and 40 males. Control group from blood donors was formed from 24 healthy volunteers who were 12 females and 12 males.40 patients were seropositive in terms of IgG antibodies to Chlamydia pneumoniae whereas 4 patients and 2 patients were found to be IgM and IgA seropositive, respectively.

IgG titers of 40 seropositive patients showed those seropositivity ratios: 1/64 in 11 patients, 1/128 in 10 patients, 1/256 in 9 patients, 1/512 in 3 patients, 1/1024 in 3 patients and 1/2048 in 4 patients. In contrast, no positivity was detected in other dilutions of Chlamydia pneumoniae antibodies except of 4 patients with IgM seropositivity (1/32) and 2 patients with IgA seropositivity (1/32).

Healthy volunteers in control group were not seropositive with regard to Chlamydia pneumoniae specific IgM and IgA antibodies although 11 volunteers were found to be IgG positive, whose IgG antibody titers seropositivity ratios were 1/64, 1/128, 1/256 and 1/512 in 1, 8, 1 and 1 volunteers, respectively.

When IgA, IgM and IgG antibodies to Chlamydia pneumoniae in study group were compared to those from the healthy individuals, it was seen that only IgG antibodies were significantly higher in AMI patients (p:0,006), being in concordance with other related studies carried out so far.
