Recently it is observed that rubeola incidence is increasing in young adults. A study had been planned to avaluate the rubeola seroprevalance in the young adults to test if this increase was also present in our region. Study group included the 750 students (360 woman, 390 men, aged 20,92±1.82, min 17, max 29) staying in Bornova State Hostel in Bornova in June 2003. Each student was requested to fill a questiannaire form including information about their age, gender, accomodation, economic situation and exposure to rubeola. Blood sampling was performed by IV puncture and sera were obtained after centrifugation. Presence of Rubeola spesific Ig G in sera was detected by using enzyme immuno assay (EIA) tecnique. Protective level of antibody (42 IU) was present in all participants. For this reason comparison of gender, socioeconomic status, accomodation with presence of antirubeola immunity could not be performed. We think that these results were associated with the precence of the majority of the study group in the target population of 1985 vaccination campaign.
