Keywords: Salmonella enteritidis, hemagglutination activity, fimbriae |
11 Salmonella enteritidis strains grown in broth and phosphate buffered agar at 22 ºC and 37 ºC were examined for their hemagglutination types and erythrocyte profiles with erythrocytes of guinea pig, rabbit, chicken, sheep, ox and human (-group-O) at +4 ºC and room temperature. Morever these 11 S.enteritidis strains grown in broth media at 37 ºC were examined for the formation of fimbriae by electron microscopical methods.
It was shown that types of hemagglutinations and also the erythrocyte profiles of these 11 S.enteritidis strains are vary depending on the growth temperature of the strains and also on the temperature at which hemagglutination tests were done.
In electronmicroscopic examinations, six of the 11 S.enteritidis strains grown in broth media at 37 ºC were found to produce fimbriae.
