Keywords: Acinetobacter, antibiotic succebility

Acinetobacter strains with multiple antibiotic resistance are important for nosocomial infections.

In this study, Acinobacter strains isolated a causative agents of nosocomial infections between 1998 and 2000 were examined for their antibiotic susceptibilities.

Of 122 Acinetobacter strains 9 % were sensitive to mezlocillin and piperacillin, 8.2 % to ticarcillin, 16.3 % to ceftazidim, 45.9 % to amikacin, 52.4 % to ciprofloxacin and 92.8 % to imipenem. 25.4 % of the strains were isolated from wound, 20.4 % from blood, 13.9 % from urine and 6.5 % from deep trakeal aspiration specimens.

24.5 % of the strains were isolated from patients in intensive care units, 23 % from patients in orthopedics clinic, 14.8 % from patients in clinic of general surgery, 10.7 % from patients in clinic of neurochirurgy and 9.8 % in clinic of internal medicine.

Most of the strains isolated from urine were found to be sensitive to amikacin and ciproploxacin. The highest sensitivity rate was found to be as 91.8 % for imipenem.
