Although the antifungal susceptibility tests of fungi are usually determined according to CLSI standards, sometimes there is a discordans between the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values and the clinical response of the patients. Aim of this study is to determine the postantifungal effects (PAFE) of fluconazole and amphotericin-B on Candida species. Suspension of Candida isolates were incubated with various concentrations of antifungal agents. Then the optic dansities of the samples were measured. As a result it was seen that while amphotericin-B generated a marked postantifungal effect, fluconazole did not generate. So it was suggested that determining postantifungal effect of antifungal agents may be a useful strategy for an effective antifungal treatment.
