Streptococcus agalactiae, a group B streptococcus, frequently colonizes the urogenital and gastrointestinal
tract and is known to be one of the main etiologic agents of neonatal meningitis. Invasive infections caused
by S. agalactiae are increase among adults with a higher mortality rate compared to the pediatric population.
Streptococcus agalactiae infections are more common in adults during pregnancy, in women who have just
given birth, and in immunocompromised adults with ongoing health problems. We report a case of bacteremia
following trauma-induced soft tissue infection caused by S. agalactiae in an adult patient with diabetes mellitus
and chronic renal failure. The aim of our study is to draw attention about invasive infections caused by S.
agalactiae, which are increasing in frequency in immunosuppressed adult patients.
